RDM Shared Service – Briefing Document and Updated Requirements

With just over a week to go before the RDM Shared Service workshops in Birmingham we have been delighted with the response and the interest from both HEI’s and system suppliers, with both events quickly reaching capacity.

In advance of the workshops we have prepared a comprehensive briefing document outlining the current concepts and processes around the RDM Shared Service. This document contains information on:

  • RDM Systems Architecture
  • Initial Requirements
  • Initial Service Concepts and Workflows
  • Pilot HEI Engagement
  • Procurement of Suppliers.
  • Development Process and Timeline

The draft requirements document previously published on this blog has undergone review by volunteers from the project’s Expert Advisory Group and updated draft requirements are available here.

We hope that these documents can help to provide the basis for engaging discussions at the workshops. For example we hope to be able to prioritise and refine the requirements and examine them for any gaps and discuss the community’s hopes and concerns around shared services. We’d also like to invite comments on both documents from anyone unable to attend the events. If you have any comments on either document, then please email them to john.kaye@jisc.ac.uk

Many institutions are currently gathering  requirements and producing documentation around implementing RDM solutions and it could be beneficial to share these documents and resources with the wider community. If you think you have any useful requirements, supporting documentation or links to resources that you are willing to share, then please add them to the workshop padlet. This applies to both Institutions and system suppliers and developers. https://padlet.com/john_kaye/RDSharedServices

As we announced last week Jisc are seeking to develop this service with a number of pilot HEI’s and have put out a call for formal expressions of interest for HEI’s. If you are interested in finding out more then please visit our blog https://researchdata.jiscinvolve.org/wp/2015/11/06/research-data-management-shared-service-call-for-formal-expressions-of-interest/

We look forward to seeing those that can make the workshops in Birmingham next week.

Hi Rory, I’m afraid the event is at capacity. If you would like to join the waiting list in case any spaces are freed up by cancellations then please email events@jisc.ac.uk with your details.

If you would like to talk through the project then please email me directly john.kaye@jisc.ac.uk and we can make arrangements
