Research data spring – second phase results

On 14th of July, 15 research data spring projects presented their progress and their objectives for another 4 months of development.

This all started back in November, when researchers, librarians, publishers and developers were invited to post and discuss their ideas on our online IdeaScale platform. In February, during the first sandpit workshop, we selected 16 ideas to start their transformation into full-blown projects over a period of 3 months. 15 of the projects came back for the second sandpit workshop on 13-14 July at Imperial College London. One of the projects – the Open Source Database as a Service – will be coming back to tell us about their progress at the next workshop later this year.

Second sandpit workshop

So what happened at the workshop last week? About 80 project team members and delegates met and shared their achievements and experiences over the past three months. All the projects delivered on most if not all their objectives and have planned for another set of ambitious goals. Angus White from the DCC posted a fabulous blog about the event along with a summary of each project.
