Force2016 is being held this April from 17th -19th in Portland Oregon, it’s the latest Force11 meeting where the future of research communications and digital scholarship will be discussed. Force11 is a vibrant and international open community that discusses and develops new ways for knowledge creation, sharing and dissemination. It’s all about taking advantage of the internet and web for new ways to open up and accelerate the growth of knowledge and research communication.
One regular feature of Force11 is the innovation challenge to further digital scholarship and improve research communications. This year we’re very pleased to be supporting the challenge – you can submit your ideas on the FORCE2016 elevator site.
The deadline is 18th April 2016.
There is a tutorial to show you how to submit ideas.
The idea of the challenge is to gather innovative new ideas and to give you a chance to kick start your project. Winning ideas will receive $1,500 and the opportunity to present the outcomes at Force2017, with your travel covered.
Voting on the ideas will take place in real time on 19th April during the Pitch It Innovation Challenge session Chaired by Fiona Murphy.
See the overall site for Force2016.
To help stimulate your thinking you can see the ideas that were submitted last year.
So hope you get your new ideas ready and participate.
While I am here I’ll just take a moment to mention the FAIR principles that aim to help make data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Re-usable by humans and machines. These are principles that we should be aspiring to …and indeed I think we are in the work of furthering data as a primary research output. The FAIR principles have been developed by the Force11 community.
Please share and encourage particaption in the challenge at Force2016!
Good luck.
I’m certainly looking forward to the outcomes and to hearing about the new developments from Force2016.
Unfortunately I won’t be in Portland but luckily for him, my colleague @chriskeene will be.
